Cake Decorating Tip of the Week - - Tip #2
Tip #2: Quality over quantity
I have bought many different brands of fondant, from the cheapest (Wilton) to one of the most expensive (Satin Ice). I did not like the taste of Wilton. It tasted very artificial. I only want quality materials used in my toppers, and Satin Ice has so far been the best. It is easy to condition and tastes great, with a larger variety of colours and flavors than Wilton. It also has a smooth finish. All of this is important, especially when you are turning it into gum paste (gumpaste, sugar paste).
Thank you for reading the second tip of the week and please feel free to comment and share.

Baby Booties and Gift Box
I made this gift box and a pair of baby booties for a frequent customer of mine. The gift box was made out of rice cereal treats and was covered in gum paste. The booties were completely gum paste. The Jordan Logo was created by using edible markers and a handmade stencil. The bow on the gift box was also made with gum paste strips. The entire cake topper was edible.

I just made a golf cart for one of my frequent customers on Etsy.com. It was also ordered with three Canadian Geese. It is made of gum paste and is entirely edible. I will post more images on my Google+ later.

Ocean Themed Cupcakes
Order the shells on Etsy |
I made some cupcakes for a potluck at my husbands work. I also made some edible toppers, made out of gum paste. The cupcakes where yellow and chocolate cake with whipped frosting. I love doing cupcakes and cakes for special events, and a potluck was another opportunity.

About Me
My Etsy.com shop
has edible cake toppers made from a material called gum paste. Gum paste, also
called sugar paste, is an edible sugar paste made from sugar and glucose. It is
used to create completely edible art, such as sculptures and faux flowers.
I started
creating cake toppers back in late 2010 when my children encouraged me. I was
actually greatly inspired by TLC's 'Cake Boss' and Food Networks 'Ace of
Cakes'. At the start of 2011, I started my Etsy shop. It has been successful
ever since.
On this blog, I
will regularly be posting progress photos of ongoing projects, tutorials, and
other things related to cakes and cake toppers.
